Antique Pink and Green Quilt, Basket Quilt, c1880, 95" x 79"

Such a lovely and generously sized antique quilt, this is a gem despite some wear and tear! This is a visually stunning quilt done in a simple basket patchwork pattern with triangles. MATERIALS  The quilt is in a Basket or Fruit Basket patchwork pattern. The sash is made of double pink fabrics. The basket patchwork is made of teal green and brown floral print, chrome yellow circle print, and a dark red with brown overdye (typical of mid-1800s fabrics). The setting blocks are plain white. It is hand stitched in a simple square grid pattern with white thread at 6 stitches per inch. It is hand pieced and hand bound with matching double pink fabric. It has lightweight cotton batting and plain white cotton backing. CONDITION  There is fading along two fold lines on the front of the quilt. There is one unfinished repair along the binding where some stitches appear to be holding together a rip; it is visible front and back. There is one additional small tear along the binding.
