Primitive Around the World Quilt, c1900

Available is a richly colored primitive quilt in a geometrically dynamic pattern.  MATERIALS Quilt is in the Around the World pattern, with concentric squares of different colored printed calicos. Black, purple, Garibaldi red, and indigo blue create a graphic display of color. Lightweight cotton batting. Backing in tan muslin. Hand quilted in white thread in grid pattern. CONDITION Fair to good vintage condition, suitable for display and study. Frayed binding throughout. Fabric thinning noted, especially on purple and black fabrics. A few light stains remain. It has been hand washed and carefully air dried. AGE Exact age and maker unknown. Estimated c1900 based on fabrics used. Found in Missouri.
