Square Floral English Wooden Bread Board, c1920

An unusually shaped wooden bread board with great character and patina. Square shaped with flowers set in each corner and carved round crumb rim. Heavy knife marks throughout, with wearing down of the sides. Beautiful display size and useful shape. Hand picked in England. Estimated age c1920 based on carvings.  Bread boards were a kitchen staple in cottages and homes throughout England. Used to slice and serve homemade bread, they also served as gifts for important occasions and bearers of social values. Each one is hand picked from England and is a functional yet lovely antique, perfect for adding English farmhouse warmth to your home.
