Wander farmer’s market stalls overflowing with fruits and gourds. Squeeze the ripest pears, the juiciest blackberries and tartest apples. Our next drop is Pear and Blackberry Cider. Across New York State—from Hudson Valley to Lake Champlain—orchards are busy harvesting and hard-pressing. Because October is ‘cider season’. But there is more to autumn than apples. And this Fall, I wanted to give cider a wildly fresh and verdant twist. So I added diced pears and humongous blackberries. With organic cider powder, cinnamon and vanilla, ‘upstate’ orchard meets Adirondack wilderness (minus the black bears) in this month’s flavor.
