Reading Club 3

Reading Club 3 introduces middle school students to two beloved and seminal novels: Erich Maria remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front and Anthony Doerr's Pulitzer-Prize winning All the Light We Cannot See. Under the guidance and care of a passionate reading teacher, students will explore these novels’ WWI and WWII settings, learning about the historical forces at work during the early and mid-twentieth century; study the key elements of literature; learn the vocabulary that will aid comprehension; write effectively about the stories’ key events, characters, and themes; discuss thoughts, feelings, and insights about the books and the history they reveal; and learn to appreciate the joys and key life lessons of reading. Note: Reading Club courses require the additional purchase of two novels. These are not included in the price of the course. You can purchase the editions used in Reading 3 below.
