1.62 ct. Custom Vanadium Kornerupune Gem - Cut by Scott Maier - Outstanding and Rare

Gem:  Vanadium Kornerupine Weight:  1.625 ct. Dimensions:  9.05 x 6.15 mm Clarity:  VS --  More specifically, it's mostly VVS, but has two very small remnants of dislocations that can be seen with magnification.  The stone is effectively EYE CLEAN Origin:  Umba Valley, Tanzania Treatments:  None Comments: Kornerupine in this saize is virtually unheard of, and is certainly now hardly ever available.  The 2019/2020 find has been mined out for years now, and shortly after that, was hard to find on the market, either as rough OR faceted gemstones.   Anything over 1 ct. is considered very rare, and above 1.5 ct is an order of magnitude harder to find or acquire. This piece is cut in a highly custom design by Scott Maier.  The original gem pattern was designed by Arya Akhavan, and then very slightly modified when cut.
