African Black Soap

Our Authentic African black soap is a traditionally all natural soap made in Ghana. A traditional recipes used palm kernel oil and the filtrate of burnt cocoa pod ash. To make the African black soap, the women of the village dry plantain fruit skins in the sun, roast the plantain peels then filter it through water. The alkaline base from the plantain peels is then added to the natural oils. There is no lye in African Black Soap. Lye is Sodium hydroxide which generally mixes with oils to make soap. The alkaline base obtained from roasted plantain peel replaces lye in regular soap. African Black Soap is organic and pure and may help to heal a lot of skin ailments.
