The 'Abbott's Pygmy' variety is quite possibly the smallest Hemlock cultivar available, and one of the smallest trees in the conifer family. This little gem is perfect for our gardening in miniature - it is indeed a true miniature that grows less than 1" per year. It starts off as a wee shrub and sloooowly grows into a fantastic tree complete with a nice trunk and branching. Hemlocks are super-easy to grow if you give them the right place to do so. If you can provide regular watering, it can be grown in full-sun. Or, plant it in a part sun spot to help you maintain even-dampness in the soil. Ideal for in-ground beds or containers. A handsome shrub that grows into a beautiful little tree Can be grown successfully in full sun providing the soil remains constantly damp Part shade is ideal as the soil tends stay damp on a more consistent basis Growth rate is less than 1"/yr Cold hardy to -30F or zones 4 to 8 Heat zones 8 – 1 Cool sun to part shade Regular water Fertilize after 2 years
