Blazed - Original Painting

Dimensions (l x w): 12 in x 12 in / 30.5 cm x 30.5 cm Materials: Fluid acrylic on cotton canvas Flickering flames are infused with movement, and in Blazed, I utilized an almost strictly vertical pour to represent that flow. Blazed presented the unique challenge of making thick enough vertical puddles that allowed the paint to shape into licks of flames upwards while not stretching the horizontal mass and losing shape. The varied heat of fire was important for me to include in the palette of red, yellow, and blue to reflect the movement imbued in the flames. I chose the elementary palette of red, yellow, and blue to reflect fire’s elemental form and variations of temperature.
