Red yucca (Hesperaloe parvifolia) is a desert native of Texas and Mexico. It is very much adapted to life in harsh conditions, and can handle a wide range of temperatures while enduring dry weather. The leaves are thin and tough, but the big appeal of this plant is the tall stalks of red and orange flowers it produces during the summer. Of course, this makes it a favorite of hummingbirds. One thing the plant does not like is overly wet soil, and/or too much rain.
