A shade loving perennial, toad lilies thrive in moist woodland habitat that is rich in organic matter. During late summer to fall, they bloom an exotic orchid-like flowers on 2-3 ft stalks. Once established, they need little care, and have few pests, although slugs and snails are two of them.
