150 SEEDS. Ocimum basilicum X O. americanum. 60+ days. Annual in zones 3 - 9, perennial in zones 9 - 11. Heirloom. A native of India, this variety has a tangy, citrusy flavor that is aromatic and flavorful. Tasty in tea and culinary preparations. Sow seeds 1/4" deep indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost date. Keep soil moist and at 70 degrees F. Germinates in 7 - 14 days. Transplant into rich, moist soil after all danger of frost has passed. Full sun. Keep well-watered throughout the growing season, especially during dry spells. Prune to encourage bushiness and pinch off any flowers to prolong the harvest. Begin harvesting leaves after the plant becomes established. Harvest in the morning and don't prune too much at once as this will weaken the plant. Grows 12 - 18" tall.
