The US Seated Liberty Half Dollar is a coin that was minted by the United States Mint from 1839 to 1891. It features a depiction of the goddess Liberty seated on a rock, with a shield at her side and a liberty cap on a pole. The reverse side typically displays an eagle with a shield, clutching arrows and an olive branch.These coins were made of 90% silver and 10% copper, and had a diameter of 30.6mm. They have a reeded edge and a weight of 12.44 grams.The design of the Seated Liberty Half Dollar went through several modifications during its production period, with changes to the stars, size of the shield, and other elements. The initial versions had no stars on the obverse, while later versions included stars encircling the design.
