Excavated in the areas of D'Jenne and Gao in Mali and some in Mauritania, these beads are stunning in their beauty. They are dated to Islamic Period, between the 8th and 12th century AD. There are 25 beads ranging from 7 to 11 mm in diameter. Some beads have more patina than others. Most of the beads have intact yellow or white eyes, some with a blue "iris" in the middle.
