It was getting dark by the time I reached Lenore’s shop on the beautiful Prinsengracht in Amsterdam’s wonderful Jordaan neighborhood. The lights lining the bridges had popped on as I was hurrying along the waters edge, my collar turned up against the rain that was starting to fall. I was a little cold, and a little hungry and a little wet, and more than a little grumpy when I entered her warm, brightly lit shop. She had charcuterie and wine and this ring and the world seemed shiny and perfect yet again, as it does most of the time I spend in this marvelous city of lights.Like tiny twinkling canal lights, winking rose cut diamonds adorn the richly engraved swoops and flowers carved into the shoulders of this wonderful ring. Hand crafted in buttery yellow 18 karat gold, this beauty was made in Europe in about 1900.
