Original publisher's salmon colored paper wrappers printed in black with a loss along lower edge of front wrapper of Vol. I, No. I, and wear to the wrappers of all three issues for what is still a beautiful, complete set of the magazine. 1-48, [49]-96, [97]-144 pp. This influential, but short lived literary journal, the entire run being published between January and March of 1843, after which the venture ceased for financial reasons, would none the less contain the first printings of works by literary giants, including Elizabeth Barrett [Browning], Nathaniel Hawthorn, Edgar Allan Poe, John Greenleaf Whittier, et al.; Vol. I, No. I contained the first printing of "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe, which is widely considered a classic of
