 
                                        Solid Oak Early Roman LION SHIELD
This beautiful hand-painted wooden shield features an original lion face design inspired by shields seen during the Roman and Gaul conflicts. The design has been painted over a rich wood-grain background. Stainless steel studs line the shield's edge. Dual leather straps are used to secure the arm along the back—one going over the forearm and one intended to be gripped or held. The shield is made out of 1/2 inch thick plywood, and is relatively light and quick and responsive. The front of the shield has also been applied with several coats of topcoat/varnish to protect and preserve it through the years. It measures about 33 inches tall by 22 inches wide.
