Silent Soaring in Spanish Moss

Owls fly in complete silence, and this barred owl is no exception. I have been fortunate enough to observe many species of owls many times, and the spectacle of their silent flight is almost as fascinating as their unique colors and feathered patterns. Here, a barred owl emerges from a cypress forest on the edges of a freshwater swamp in southern Florida.
