Sugary March

For very good reason, many of us refer to the beautiful sands of the gulf coast’s beaches as being “sugar white.” “This ruddy turnstone appeared, to me, to be marching along the surf in search of its next meal. With each step, grains of sand flew from its feet, indistinguishable from cane sugar. Of course, as much as we love the sugar-white sands of the gulf, the true star of this moment was the gulf itself. This never-to-be-repeated mixture of greens and blues created a majestic backdrop for this beautiful bird’s daily march.”
