Tree of Life

I consider this one of—if not the—most symbolic captures I’ve ever made. As the sun was setting over the western lands of Kenya’s Maasai Mara region, I saw the potential to align the sun with this acacia tree. Fortunately, the grass was short in this location, which made it safe for me to exit my Land Cruiser. My mind was immediately filled with thoughts of titling this capture “Tree of Life,” even before the sun settled into this perfect position. The sun’s fiery light seemed to dance up the acacia tree, creating an energy that feels consistent with the miracle of creation. Initially, I was intrigued only by this tall acacia tree in center, but I eventually (possibly with divine intervention) took notice of the two trees flanking it. Later, when reviewing this string of captures back home in Florida, it became quite apparent to me that “Tree of Life” is indeed the perfect title, but for far more meaningful reasons.
