Don't Bug Me Writer's Box

So often, young writers forget about setting and don't put their characters in an actual PLACE. The Don't Bug Me Box will teach them that the setting is like the backdrop for a play. It gives the reader a picture of where the action is taking place. As your children write OUTSIDE on a “writer’s blanket” and take inspiration from the sites, sounds and smells of the outdoors, they will have many chances to practice this!   The Clubtime invitation is where the real “BUG” part comes in. Be forewarned: your child is going to quiz you on some pretty gross (and cool) facts about bugs! They also are invited in this box to make a “Writer at Work” sign to hang on their door. When you call them a “writer” and give them a designated time to do the work of a writer, they will start to call themselves “writer” too. That’s exactly what you want to happen!
