Tranquility

Artist Reflections There are moments that remind us that the beauty of life can be experienced in the simplest ways. My wife and I had ventured out before sunrise, hoping to find the perfect location to capture the beauty of the rising sun at the still waters of the Dead Sea. As the sun crept up over the Jordanian mountains on the eastern banks of the sea, I felt my body tensing, anxious about missing the opportunity to capture the moment. Then I turned my attention from the intense light streaming momentarily over the mountains to the calm shore beneath my feet. The stones encased in salt crystals along with the soothing blue draping the shore brought a mysterious tranquility to my being. Sometimes photography really is about the excitement of catching light at just the right millisecond. And other times, it is about the serenity of being present to the Eternal.
