Vintage 10 k gold WCTU prize star. Awarded in 1925 for a written prize by the WCTU in 1925 this prize medal star is suspended from its pin bar which has the initials WCTU. the Womens Christian Temperance Union held oral, musical and written competitions in schools in order to educate children to keep them away from drink and to give them a good head start in life in the late 19th and early 20th century. Engraved on front: MBS, Dept LTJ, WCTU, Essay Gram School, 1925 A great addition to your antique religious or temperance collection or early holiday gift.
