Antique Advertising Bryant & May Match Holder

Vintage carlton ware advertising stoneware match holder and striker. Advertising "Club Matches" manufactured by Bryant & May this Edwardian match holder/striker was a popular item in cafe and bars in the early 20th century. Originally filled with Bryant & May matches this was a promotional display piece given out free to cafes and bars which sold this band of matches to its customers. The mark dates this piece to between 1906 - 1927 It was part of a collection purchased from the Jackie Collins estate in Los Angeles.
