In a vibrant forest scene in swirling, colorful patterns, a woman with a staff walks by a luminescent tree adorned with pink blossoms. Or is she a woman?  Maybe she is a yokai. Faces of the yodama (Japanese forest spirits) can be seen in the dark trees. Perhaps she is the yodama of the blossoming tree who has momentarily left to take form. The interplay of light and shadow creates an ethereal and surreal ambiance. This contemporary fantasy landscape is an original acrylic painting on a stretched canvas (the staple-free sides are painted). It has been varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors. This painting will hang just fine on a nail.
