Bee Chawan / Tea Bowl #1 (10 oz)

Hand painted cherry blossom Chawan / Tea Bowl. Details: ~ Measures: 3 1/4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide at the rim ~ Capacity: 10 oz apx. ~ Wavy rim~ Shino glaze inside / clear glaze outside ~ Food, dishwasher, and microwave safe   My process: I make this chawan on the potters wheel and once the rim is dry enough to support itself, I turn it over and trim the bottom. Then while it is still very wet, I apply a stencil I created for the honeycomb pattern and then i dipped the cup in white slip. Then, I painted the purple flowers and bees. Once the pot is completely dry, I intentionally scuffed up some areas of the outside of the cup to create a worn look. After the cup comes out of the first firing, I applied a shino glaze to the inside of the cup and a clear glaze to the outside. Then the pot goes back in the kiln the for its second and final firing.
