Hand painted tumbler with red cherry blossoms.  Details: ~ Apx. 3.75 inches tall and 3 inches wide at the rim ~ Capacity: holds 12 oz  ~ Straight rim ~ Red slip inside & red-pink umbre on the outside ~ Clear glaze inside & out ~ Food, dishwasher, and microwave safe ~ Porcelain clay My process: This tumbler is thrown on the wheel one day and the bottom trimmed the next day. When the cup is complete dry, I wax the rim and then pour a red slip on the inside and apply the red-pink umbre to the outside. Then it goes into the kiln for its first firing. When it comes out of the kiln, I paint cherry blossoms on it, then dip the tumbler in clear glaze (inside and out is clear) and then back into the kiln it goes for the final firing. Made from high fire porcelain, tumbler is fired in an electric oxidation kiln.
