Central America Circa 1000 to 600 BC. Lovely expressive greenish-black serpentine stone mask having well carved relief facial features with a wide mouth, drilled in the corners, plump lips, wide nose, narrow eyes with drilled pupils and deep furrowed brows. Three sets of biconical drilled attachment holes in the rim. Minor ancient loss on the left nostril, otherwise intact. Size: 4 inches H. x 3-1/4 inches W. + custom mount. Provenance: John A. Stokes Jr. collection, NY. Acquired from Rutilo Ocampo, 1964.
