Mexico, probably Tlamimilopa-Metepec, Ca. 200 to 750 AD. Carved effigy mask of idealized beauty with symmetrical facial features; triangular nose, almond eyes, fleshy parted lips and ear flanges; Attachment holes atop corners. Condition: Good, as found; losses to top left corner, gauge in nose, lip and chin and losses to ear flanges and one attachment hole on periphery is blown out; overall abrasions. Scattered areas of surface encrustation. A beautiful example. Size 5-3/4 inches (14.6cm) H x 5-1/2 inches (14cm) Wide + custom mount. Provenance: Private US Collection, Brighton, Colorado.
