Canada, 20th Century AD Carving of a hunter in a parka with full hood; holding trappings of his craft, large fish in right hand and a stack of bear heads in the other. Side of hood is morphing into an animal mouth from which a spiral horn emanates. Inuit artists use several types of stone for their carvings, with one of the nicest being serpentine, a lovely semi-soft metamorphic rock which allows for complex compositions and detailed work such as is the case in this striking example. The statue is polished to a high shine and has a lovely unique color variations due to mineral inclusions. Size 20 inches H. Excellent intact condition. Ex Collection of Jane Susskind-Narins, New York, NY.
