West Mexico, Ixlan Del Rio, Ca. 200 BC to 300 AD. Unique pottery male and female standing figures, with ocher and white painted details and highlights. They are a matched pair of whimsical plastic forms. The male holds an object with both hands and the female holds a bowl on her left shoulder, and both are wearing fancy head bands, nose rings and necklaces. The male has a pointed panel loincloth and the female wears an ankle length skirt. The male’s shirt is beautifully decorated on the back with a polychrome textile decoration. Both are intact. Size: 10”H. & 10-1/8”H.Provenance: Private Westchester, NY. collection. Assembled in the 1960’s-1970’s. To family by descent.
