Recreation Center: Glazing with Josephine Noel - Vinyl Resist Techniques

October 19 Saturday, 7:30-9:30 pmTribeca In this two hour workshop, Josephine Noel will introduce students to her personal glazing techniques which includes the application of vinyl sticker stencils. Students will receive a prebisqued mug thrown by Josephine. Vinyl stencils of various shapes will be used to create patterns and designs by applying them to the mug and creating a resist for the glaze. Basic glazing techniques will be covered, including application of various colors of glaze and working with the positive and negative space of your design. Once the mug is glaze fired, each student will have the option of getting the handle dipped in rubber, a staple of Recreation Center’s aesthetic. This workshop is beginner friendly while offering a nuanced approach to glazing for experienced students. Josephine Noel Is a full time ceramicist and designer.
