How to Train Your Candle

In this sculptural and functional handbuilding workshop students will learn the essential techniques for building the candle holder of their dreams. Gracie will provide in-depth demonstrations on how to handbuild a strong, functioning candle holder from tip to tail. This functional form holds a great capacity for narrative through sculpted depictions of dragons, swamp creatures, or anything else your mind may conjure. The workshop is open to all skill levels. Demonstrations are rooted in basic coil building and pinching techniques, which can be expanded on and fine tuned to remain engaging and exploratory for more advanced students. The bisque firing of one 6”x6” candle holder will be included in the workshop fee. Students may fire additional pieces by paying via outside firing. Students that
