Kuroraku (black raku) Matcha Chawan (Tea Bowl) by Yoshimura Rakunyu II. Vintage. The Yoshimura family has been making ceramics in Kyoto since the early part of the 20th C. Rakunyu I was Jinshiro, and his son Toshio (born in 1929) became Rakunyu II, whose stamp matches that of this bowl. He also became president of the Kyoto Raku Ware Association in 1985. His son, Shigeo (born in 1959) became Yoshimura Rakunyu III in 2004. The family still specializes in wares for Chanoyu (the Tea Ceremony). H. 3"(7.5cm) x DIA. 4.375"(11cm). 277 grams.
