The figure of Jesus is central: his hands are bound together as he holds a long branch, reflecting on the condemnation of the people that will lead to his death. The crown of thorns recalls Christian symbolism. In the background is the figure of Pontius Pilate wetting a water cloth.  No one else is on stage, just a setting that is as minimalist as it is plastic, typical of the scenes immortalized by LaChapelle, consisting of pillars and stairs in shades of gold and purple.
