VII: He Falls the Second Time

David LaChapelle - VII: He Falls the Second Time David LaChapelle's work, VII: He Falls the Second Time is a chromogenic print on Dibond made in a limited edition of 7 examples and 5 artist's proofs. In this work Christ continues his path of penance for all humanity, bearing the weight of the cross. He holds his abdomen with his hand, in a moment of slight yielding. A soldier then intervenes, wearing a modern red tunic, slightly open across his chest. The soldier looks ahead, toward the path to redemption.  In the process, Jesus' expression becomes increasingly reflective and somber, just to emphasize the pain he is feeling at that moment and the effort he is making for all of us. In this work we see how Christ has always entrusted himself into God's hands for this journey.
