XV: Ascension

David LaChapelle - XV: Ascension David LaChapelle's work, XV: Ascension is a chromogenic print on Dibond made in a limited edition of 7 examples and 5 artist's proofs. In this work, Jesus has finally ascended into heaven after the long and painful journey of repentance. The Redeemer is placed in the center of the picture, in bright white robes, surrounded by thick, lush vegetation.  With the symbolism peculiar to Christianity, Christ blesses us, looking at the viewer with an enigmatic gaze, hinting at a smile: he has accomplished the journey and atoned for the sins of all mankind.
