Agave lechuguilla 'Shin Dagger' is a cold hardy century plant with one of the widest native ranges, found on alkaline soils from southern New Mexico and Texas south to southern Mexico, usually at elevations between 2,000' and 7,500'. The fast-suckering plants form large patches of thick, upright, 12"+ long, glaucous green foliage, often with a faint central stripe on the back of the leaf. It is a very distinctive and attractive agave! Plant in full sun to bright filtered light (best sheltered from full summer sun in hot climates) in a well-drained soil. Tolerates dry conditions but will grow much faster with regular summer irrigation - keep drier in winter. It is a moderate to fast grower, and has performed incredibly well in our cold high desert climate in central Oregon!
