Matthew Fritz Sauvignon Blanc 2023 (Lake County, California)
Founded in 2004 by Matthew Bonnano, the Matthew Fritz wines are his breezy, coastal companions to his more serious BonAnno wines made in Napa. Working alongside fourth-generation winemaker Jim Milone, they source fruits from vineyards along the North Coast and use that fruit to create pure, fresh, easy drinking wines meant to be enjoyed now. This is a classic example of California Sauvignon Blanc. We get notes of juicy meyer lemon, white peach, and fresh tender herbs on the palate with a hint of wet stone minerality on the finish. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks instead of oak barrels keeps this wine energetic and crisp and really let’s the bright fruit notes shine. Food Ideas: Spaghetti with clams, pan bagnat, leek risotto with peas and pancetta, crispy fish tacos, mixed greens salad with chicken & nectarines ABV: 12.5%
