Palestinian women are well known and respected for their traditional embroidery work called tatreez.  This beautiful velvet pouch highlights the sabayal stitch, traditional employed on the thob, or traditional Palestinian dress, along the sides. These make up pouches or accessory bags come in 6 velvet colors so that you can keep a lovely piece of Palestine close to you. This is handcrafted by Manjel Ma'qoud, a women's embroidery group we formed in January of 2024 in response to the increasing pressure Palestinian women are under due to the ongoing and increasing Israeli closures and suffocation of the Palestinian economy. These designs are only available through Handmade Palestine and through your purchase, we are supporting 80 women and their families. Please note the sabayal stitch isn't always perfectly straight as women use marka which makes it a more challenging craft to embroider.
