Description: A beautiful circa 1862 uncirculated copper medal by George H. Lovett. This medal is from the series developed by Lovett to commemorate the various places where George Washington established Headquarters during the war of independence. This medal is number 5 and is for Valley Forge outside Philadelphia Pennsylvania. This is example is for the second obverse showing George Washington in uniform facing left within a beaded circle surrounded by a border of thirteen semicircles and thirteen stars. The reverse shows a house flanked by trees in the center with hills or mountains in the background. The image has a border surrounding it and having the legend "HEADQUARTERS AT VALLEY FORGE PA 1777 & '78*No. 4*. The medal is uncirculated and shows a nice brown color of copper in the fields.
