Description: A nice large and heavy bronze medal from 1969. This is the Society of Medalists seventy nineth issue medal. The medal has the image of Paul Bunyan chopping a tree on the obverse. The image is surrounded by the legend AMERICAN FOLKLORE PAVL BVNYAN. The reverse shows the image the striding figure of John Chapman sowing seeds with a sack over his shoulder and the legend JOPHNNY APPLESEED above it. The medal has a beautiful patinaed surface. The edge of the medal is marked "The Society of Medalists 97th Issue-MAY 1969 BRUNO MANKOWSKI SC. (c)" and "Medallic Art Company N.Y. Bronze". The medal comes in its original box with the original literature that came with it. A great looking and very interesting American art medal to add to your collection.
