1995 Footed Palekh Russian Lacquer Box Scene From A Fairy Tale Signed A. Drozbov
Description: This is a beautiful rectangular paper-mache or papier-mache Russian Lacquer Box with a hinged lid attached to one of the short sides of box and has 4 small round feet on the base to support it. The box is marked Palekh and was made at the Palekh school of miniature painting. The box has a flat bottom with small feet at the corners and a hinged lid. The lid is decorated with a hand painted colorful image of a young man and woman under a red canopy with a man in a boat on the left and a woman sitting to the right observing the young couple. This is a scene from a Russian Fairy Tale which we are unable to identify. The box is signed "A, Drozbov" and dated 1995 along the bottom edge of the lid. There is also the word Palekh (c) and the number "481" suggesting this is design number 481 of the school's catalog. The box was definitely made at the Palekh miniature manufactory/school as it it has the official logo of the school and the words "Made in Russia" on the back. The box sh
