977 Walter & June Gottshall Carved Painted Wood Comb Box Brown Cat Crouching

Description: A beautiful carved softwood (most likely pine) and polychrome painted hanging comb box. Although the box has no wire or attachment to hang from, we still believe it is meant to be a hanging comb box reminiscent of hanging comb boxes of days gone by. The comb box has the carving of a cat crouching and looking at you as you look at the box. The box as well as the cat is painted in brown with gray or off-white highlights. The front of the box is curved with the edge colored in gray. The front panel has a notched edge all along three sides (bottom and two short sides) with yellow dots all along the four sides. The cat itself has black whiskers and off-white highlights with blue colored eyes. The back of the box is painted in the same brown color the front and the cat are painted in.
