Antique 8" Pewter Single Reed Edge Plate Touch of Blakslee Barns Philadelphia Pennsylvania
Description: An antique pewter plate having the touch of Blakslee Barns active 1812-1817 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The plate has a mark showing an eagle within a circle with the letters BB within an oval under him and the circle having stars all along the edge (see mark 15 in Jacob's Guide to American Pewter Book) and is also marked with the word "BARN." on top of "..ILAD A" within a rectangle. This plate is ~7 7/8" in diameter with a single reed edge. The edge is slightly curved and is ~1" wide. The plate has a depressed center decorated with a lightly incised line near where the edge starts with a rounded edge. The rim itself also has no decoration. The plate shows many utensil marks, scratches and pitting. It has some dings and is lightly toned. A well-used antique pewter plate with very obvious and well-defined marks.
