Antique Carved Wood Brick Shaped Butter Mold Fluted Sides and Floral Design
Description: A beautiful antique carved wood brick butter mold. This nice size brick mold is a one-piece mold with fluted sides and having finger slots on the side. The mold has an engraving of a flowers on stems with leaves on the inside. The exterior of the mold is plain but has the slots on the two long sides so that it may be held with your fingers. The edge of the mold has this scalloped lines which will give the piece of butter produced by this mold not only the floral design on top but a nice scalloped design on the sides of the resulting brick. These molds were very common in the 18th and 19th century in Switzerland and Austria. The piece is in very good condition for being around for almost 200 years. It does have age cracks on one of the two short sides, which can be seen in the photos.
