Antique Hand Carved Wood Shoe-shaped Snuff Box Marked "MARKEN" From Holland

Description: An old snuffbox or snuff box made of wood in the form of a shoe. The box is hand carved and hand decorated and has a swinging lid. The lid, on top, is attached to the show with a single screw and swings around it. The box is in the form of a clog, common in Holland or The Netherlands, with a pointed front and a medium height heel. The exterior of the box is decorated with carved geometric design and has the word "MARKEN" varved across the top. The exterior of the box is smoothed, lacquered, and is a dark brown while the interior is unfinished. This was a tourist souvenir sold in Holland and we believe this box is of the 1920s-1930s.
