Antique Henry Schofield Lead Glazed Brown Redware Cup Southeast PA Northeast MD
Description: An early 20th century (ca 1920s) lead glazed redware small cup having slightly curved sides and an applied strap handle. The cup has a round flat base with a slightly impressed foot ring. The cup is brown in color with typical Schofield black colored glaze at the foot ring. The piece has a rounded rim and an applied strap handle. The piece has the typical Schofield coarse feel and appearance. The piece is very primitive in construction and feel. The piece is glazed inside and out except for the bottom, which is unglazed with a typical reddish color of unglazed redware. Date: Uncertain, but sometime in the 1920s Origin: Cecil County, Maryland, or Chester County in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
