Description: A beautiful and rather uncommon antique cast iron still penny bank. It is cast in the form of a large seated rabbit having its ears perked-up. The rabbit is sitting on its hind legs with its front legs fully stretched. The rabbit is sitting up and looking straight ahead. It has a flat base and is made of two halves held together with a screw. It has the coin slot on the back below its head. See page 89 of Andy and Susan Moore's book "The Penny Bank Book; Collecting Still Banks" Published by Schiffer Books, of Exton, PA in 1984 for a similar example, bank No. 570. The rabbit has pink ears and eyes. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Late 1800s (Late 19th century)-early 1900s (early 20th century). Origin: USA.Size: The bank measures ~4 1/2" in height and the bottom measures ~4" at its longest (including the feet) by ~1 3/4" at its widest. The bank weighs about 14 ounces. Maker: Known to have been made by Hubley.
