Antique Manganese Glazed Orangish-Brown Redware Deep Pie Plate SE Pennsylvania
Description: Beautiful antique deep redware pie plate with round flat bottom and slightly curved or rounded sides ending in a plain dark brown rim. The plate is orangish-brown in color and is manganese glazed as evidenced by the dark brown speckles throughout. The bowl is glazed on the inside but not on the outside. The brown coloring of the plate or bowl has dark brown or black speckles distributed throughout. The edge of the [late is dark brown and the back or bottom of the plate is black with small areas where you can see the reddish color of the redware (see 4th photo). A beautiful plate with great looking coloring making this piece a great addition to your antique redware collection.
